Barbara Lewis

This 1960s monochromatic linoleum block print scene is by Chicago-based painter, photographer, and printmaker Barbara Lewis (1925-2008). Lewis studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1943), University of Illinois at Chicago (1967-70), and the IIT Institute of Design (MFA in Printmaking, 1970-72). Through her mixed-media compositions, she explored Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, often using imagery of Chicago and her travels to Europe and Northern Africa.

Estate stamped lower right. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a contemporary wood frame with a warm white finish using black archival spacers and 8-ply matting behind conservation clear glass.
